Cultural Competency Series For Leaders (1 Bronze, 1 Silver, 1 Gold) (R,O,G,V)
Wednesdays: September 18 & 25, October 2, 9, & 16, 4:00 – 5:30 PM
MacVittie College Union Hunt Room

What attributes do top employers list as “most” important? Communication skills (verbal and written); honesty/integrity; teamwork (works well with others); interpersonal skills (relates well to others); and a strong work ethic are the top five. These “soft skills” are important in today’s workplace, in part because of the diversity of the new multinational workforce. Employers recognize the challenges that come with learning to communicate and problem solve across diverse work teams.
The Cultural Competency for Leaders Series is a five-week program that will help you: explore what it means to be a culturally competent leader; learn the benefits of strong cross-cultural work teams; practice strategies for overcoming cross-cultural communication barriers; and identify the cultural influences that can contribute to conflict.
Upon completion of the workshops and the required journals, you will receive a certificate of attendance and 3 GOLD Certificate Program credits, one each in the Bronze, Silver and Gold levels. More importantly, you will be on your way to developing a skill set that employers need.
Instructor: Kelly Clark, Director, Multicultural Affairs
