Volunteer & Service Awards



Purpose: In 2011, the College established an Advisory Committee on Volunteer and Service Programs to support the mission of developing socially responsible citizens who are engaged in serving others through community service.

Members of the college community are invited to submit nominations for the 2015 Volunteer and Service Awards. Nominations may be submitted for both indivudals and groups by clicking the Nomination Form link above. The committee invites nominations, including self-nominations, from the campus and the community to recognize student volunteers,faculty/staff for service learning and volutneer work, college organizations and community partner organizations engaged in service between March 1, 2014 and January, 2015. The nominations will be reviewed and selected by the Advisory Committee on Volunteer and Service Programs..

Eligibility: All current SUNY Genseo students, all faculty/staff, all recognized student organizations, and community organizations that engage SUNY Genseo students in service. Criteria: The criteria to be used in reviewing nominations includes impact on the community,impact on student volunteers, personal motivation and leadership.

Volunteer and Service Recognition Dinner: The awards will be presented at the volunteer and service recognition dinner on March 26 at 6:00 pm at the Big Tree Inn. The dinner will include presentation of the awards and guest speaker Jennifer Dunlap, President & CEO of Development Resources and a member of the Geneseo Foundation Board of Directors.

Past recipients of the Awrds: In March 2012,awards were presented to Brent Sanderson, Rebecca May, Jessica Shatzel, Michael Mattiucci, Grace Trompeter, Alpha Phi Omega, Royal Lady Knights and H.O.R.S.E Rescue. In March 2013, awards were presented to Matt Bower, Gideon Cohen, Sherry Leung, Alpha Chi Rho, Alpha Phi Omega, Colleges Against Cancer and Teresa House. The 2014 recipients included Emily Bressner, Annamarie Centorrino, Josephine Champlin, Alanna Fausel, Christopher Pike, Dr. Mary L. Mohan, Tree Creations (Joseph Ferrero, Founder), Circle K, Sigma Kappa Sorority, and Sisters Making a Change.
